Tips on Starting the Conversation

With most circles of friends, or gal pals, no topic is off the table—except when it comes to domestic violence. How can you get the conversation started? Here are a few tips:

  • Tell a Gal P.A.L. ® about this campaign and encourage them to donate a women’s suit
  • Point them to a great Web site that every woman should know – ClickToEmpower.org
  • Let them face the facts: More than 70 percent of Americans are touched by domestic violence either through personal experience or through someone they know.
    • Make a pact with the gal pals to be open and inform one another if they find themselves in an abusive situation
  • Leverage what’s happening in the news as conversation starters. For example, the troubled economy is a segue to talk about how all women should protect their personal finances and ways to prevent economic abuse
