Program Highlights
For the fourth consecutive year, The Allstate Foundation’s Economics Against Abuse Program joined forces with the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) to host an Economic Empowerment Conference in Washington, D.C. The conference is intended for domestic violence advocates and community leaders and will serve as a platform to increase awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence in the U.S. and highlight the barriers domestic violence survivors face in achieving financial independence.
The 2008 annual conference attracted over 120 domestic violence advocates and community leaders. Additionally, the keynote address was given by Allstate General Counsel and Senior Vice President, Michele Coleman Mayes, who discussed the importance of economic empowerment for survivors in an increasingly turbulent economic time.
